Join us at the IoT Solutions World Congress

IOT Solutions World Congress

Barcelona in October anyone?

We are excited to announce that we will be featuring at the IoT Solutions World Congress this year in Barcelona. This is the first time that we’ll be showcasing our Industrial Automation Project: Teaching AI to Sail in full, and we’re looking forward to connecting with new audiences at the congress to discuss the opportunities from the project.

The exceptional work by the team has seen our collective efforts selected for a panel discussion about Machine Learning at the Extreme, where we’ll also be hearing from Jack Trigger, Director and Skipper of Trigger Racing, about the impact of the project. We will share on the panel in another post.

And, if that isn’t enough, we have also been awarded a showcase pitch in the Startup Font Zone, where we’ll have the opportunity to discuss and demonstrate the project in more detail and explore other benefits of the application. The pitch will also provide a great platform to showcase our services and partners that have made the project possible.

You’ve taught AI to sail, I hear you say

The Industrial Automation solution equips professional solo sailors with an AI co-pilot to gain a race-winning edge. The solution combines deep reinforcement learning for intelligent control decision, along with LSTM recurrent neural nets to estimate the future physical state of the boat and optimal next time-step rudder movement, and genetic algorithms for model hyperparameter tuning and optimisation.

Current autopilot technology follows compass headings or wind angles for guidance and is estimated to only perform 80% as well as a human. Our solution combines the wealth of data from the boat’s IoT sensors; wind, speed, pressure, temperature, gyroscopes and accelerometers, amongst others, to achieve behaviour and performance far closer to that of a human than current autopilots and give the sailor the edge.

Our solution combines the latest in emerging technologies; marine sensors and IoT technology, cloud and edge computing, and satellite communication, allowing the deployment of our algorithm to the ‘edge’ in one of the most remote and extreme environments possible; a round the world racing yacht in the middle of the ocean. These services are readily available from T-DAB.AI and our partners.

What is the IoT World Congress

The IoT Solutions World Congress proposes to be the largest IoT event in the world to get inspired with new ideas, solutions and people. The event will focus mainly on the best practices and success stories of companies that have implemented IoT, artificial intelligence and blockchain achieving significant competitive advantages to inspire attendees and help identify trends.

Including showcasing experience from Carrefour, Uber, Airbus Hugo Boss, Maersk and Daimler Motors, among others, the congress is expected to bring together 400 exhibiting companies and more than 400 speakers from all over the world, as well as over 16,000 visitors from over 120 countries.

If you are attending the congress in October, please visit the team in the Startup Zone. Or if you want to get involved, there is still time, the dates for the diary are 29th to 31st October at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue.
